What is Shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves pressure wave-energy that target pain and injuries within the body. It is the latest and most effective form of treatment for patients that have ongoing chronic pain or injury that does not seem to heal.
What does shockwave do?
Shockwave is used to help promote cellular healing to either the soft tissue, muscles, bones or nerves. It increases localised blood flow, enhances the healing process, reduces pain and inflammation, break-down scar tissue and overall improve mobility.
Does shockwave therapy hurt?
Most patients tolerate the treatment well, reporting only mild discomfort.

What should I expect with my shockwave appointment?
Penguin Podiatry is an official clinic for the use of the Gymna Shockmaster 500. The device has pre-programmed settings that are always based on clinical evidence and reviewed by experienced shockwave specialist to target specific body parts.
At your appointment you will expect
1. Assessment & History
Your podiatrist will go through your region of pain/injury and assessment you previous medical history and medications
2. Shockwave pre-questions
Your podiatrist will go through questions of pain level on the gymna shockmaster 500 that will automatically adapt the treatment
level to your condition
3. Application
Depending on treatment level and your condition shockwave application can take anywhere from 3-10mins
